Antibes, France

CULTURE OF LOCATION

I know Saint-Tropez may be considered the yacht capital of France, boasting famous celebrities, fashion models, and a high concentration of millionaires. However, for those looking to enter the industry, a short train ride south will lead you to the picturesque seaside city of Antibes. Port Vauban in the old port has the advantage of being one of the main yachting hubs in Europe with all the suppliers in the area and very close to Nice, Cannes, and Monaco. I like to refer to as the Fort Lauderdale of Europe. Similar to its American counterpart, Antibes offers a plethora of amenities for aspiring yachties.

Having worked two seasons in the south of France, I can attest to Antibes being a hidden gem. This charming medieval town with a rich history features great bars, restaurants, stunning beaches, and convenient transportation options. My personal favorite is the daily farmers market provides the freshest produce, and while speaking French can be beneficial, the yachting community in Antibes is supportive and caters to the lifestyle. Also, Antibes hosts various yacht shows and events throughout the year, providing excellent networking opportunities for aspiring crew members.

The diverse community of yachties and locals alike are welcoming and friendly, making Antibes a favorite spot among crew members. Whether you're in need of resources, pristine waters for boating, or a variety of amenities such as quaint cafes and luxurious spa treatments, Antibes has something to offer everyone. Additionally, the Monaco Grand Prix in May presents an opportunity for yachties to work at the event. Also, dock walking for a job is permitted most places in Europe and Antibes is essentially located to a lot of marinas along the Cote Azur. Living and working as yacht crew in Antibes allows you to embrace a vibrant social life, enjoy breathtaking landscapes, and create unforgettable memories while pursuing your dream career on a luxury yacht. Working in Antibes the past few seasons in yachting has certainly been a bucket list achievement for me. I would go back in a heartbeat!
